Little things make a difference
Sustainability
Linda was a champion of sustainability in her UK job so wanted to bring those ethics to this business. From using antique and secondhand furniture (not everything is perfect), to feeding the hedgehogs and birds, we try to make a difference at Le Pommier.
The liquid soap in the first picture is what we use in our hand soap pumps. It’s natural and local from the lovely shop Savon Guarde in Aubeterre. We buy it in a 5 litre container, which we give back for reuse, so there is no waste at all.
We collect rain water, manage the recycling (nearly all packaging is recyclable in France), and we compost to use on our fruit and vegetable beds.
You’ll find a bag of Fairtrade and Organic coffee in your welcome basket too.
You can do your bit whilst here – turning off lights when you don’t need them, and using the dishwasher on Eco setting overnight.
Ethical Paper Products
The toilet rolls, tissues and kitchen roll we supply are from Who Gives A Crap, who give half their profits to sanitation and fresh water projects around the world.
Bee Friendly gardens
We've planted very flowery gardens, and we're visited by all sorts of bees. When the fruit trees blossom, and particularly the olive tree, the sound is amazing!
